People Experience Compliance Manager
The Role
The MaryRuth’s People Compliance Manager is responsible for the program management of compliance practices, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws, regulations, and industry standards. This role identifies compliance priorities, delivers practical and informed solution recommendations, and supports the development and implementation of best practices to maintain organizational compliance. The People Compliance Manager also serves as a trusted advisor for employee relations and performance management initiatives, ensuring our team’s experience reflects the MaryRuth’s team’s core values and commitments to employee wellbeing. This role will report to the People Experience Director and is a full-time (40 hr/wk), salaried, exempt position. EST or CST availability is preferred but not required. The compensation range for this role is $80,000 to $90,000 USD/year.
Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor and interpret existing and proposed federal, state, and local employment laws, assessing their impact; propose solutions to ensure company practices remain current and compliant.
- Design and deliver training programs on compliance-related topics.
- Lead cross-functional efforts to implement scalable PX compliance strategies, ensuring ongoing alignment as well as opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Audit & Risk Management
- Conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with both internal policies and external regulations; identify and propose mitigation of potential areas of compliance vulnerability.
- Develop, maintain, and implement a comprehensive PX compliance calendar, tracking progress and results.
- Policy Development & Data Governance
- Coordinate policy governance processes, including maintaining an accurate repository of current and obsolete policies, publishing new or revised policies, tracking change management, and communicating deliverables to meet required deadlines.
- Oversee People Experience records management and retention activities, ensuring alignment with company records retention schedules and varying legal requirements.
- Employee Relations
- Serve as a trusted advisor to people managers, providing strategic guidance on programs and policies.
- Support employees when challenges arise, ensuring fair, thoughtful, and unbiased solutions in partnership with People Experience team members and leaders.
- Support initiatives that foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, promote employee engagement, and enhance organizational effectiveness while furthering diversity, equity, and inclusion.

- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Some travel (<5%) may be required on an as needed basis, with advance notice provided to the employee.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience in People Experience or Human Resources leadership roles, with demonstrated expertise in multistate employment compliance, HR operations, and complex employee relations.
- Demonstrated experience supporting compliance oversight, audit execution, risk management coordination, and HR operations initiatives to ensure regulatory adherence and data governance is required.
- Exceptional knowledge of US federal, multi-state, and local employment laws, ADAA Accommodations, and employee relations best practices required; exposure to Mexican, Philippines, and other international labor laws a plus.
- Experience leading and managing teams; skilled in developing trusted relationships and delivering solutions that reflect a deep understanding of organizational and employee needs.
- Effective decision-making in a fast-paced environment with unwavering attention to fairness, consistency, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
- Ability to translate business needs into People strategies that balance risk, compliance, and organizational culture.
- Proven ability to facilitate and mediate between diverse groups and individuals.
- Strong change management and presentation skills to educate employees and leaders at all levels.
- Proficiency with HR Information Systems and data reporting platforms strongly preferred; intermediate level of expertise within Excel required, and previous exposure to project management software (i.e. Asana) helpful.
- Experience utilizing AI within People Operations is preferred.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and one or more global languages preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- This role involves sitting most of the time but may also involve moving for brief periods of time.
