Development Assistant
The Role
The Development Assistant, reporting to the MaryRuth’s Develoment Scientist within our Product Development, Innovation, & Management Team (PDIM), will work with the Development and PMO teams to turn various Innovation ideas into finished products. This role will help to coordinate and move department projects forward by collaborating with internal teams, co-manufacturers, and raw ingredient suppliers to gather information, create and validate documentation, write product briefs, and resolve any issues that may come up during development processes. This is a full-time (40 hr/wk), hourly, non-exempt, remote position.
Responsibilities
Work extensively with diverse internal and external teams to support the product development process.
Collect and organize ingredient and product data and information, including raw material specification sheets, packaging information, finished good specifications, and manufacturing batch records.
Assemble and review substantiation for various ideas and product claims from clinical trials, journals, technical documents, etc.
Create detailed innovation briefs for product ideas, organizing and arranging all relevant information.
Identify and resolve potential issues, questions, or bottlenecks in the development process.
Support Formulator and other PDIM team members with communication, coordination, and documentation.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Some travel (<5%) may be required on an as needed basis, with advance notice provided to the employee.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in STEM field (Biology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Mathematics, etc.) or equivalent experience required.
Experience in formulating and commercializing CPG (VMS) products; strong preference for dietary supplement experience or manufacturing experience.
Familiarity with USA FDA 21 CFR Part 111, 114, and 117 requirements, in addition to other applicable requirements.
Comfortable with regulatory and technical documentation (product or material specifications, etc).
Analytical mindset with the ability to problem-solve and think outside the box.
Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbal and written.
Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Must be able to convey and explain complex technical concepts to laypeople.
Proficiency with Excel is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with Asana or other project management software a plus.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
This role involves sitting most of the time but may also involve moving for brief periods of time.
