Creative Strategist
The Creative Strategist position is a data-driven, forward-thinking role that will act as one of the primary creative forces behind our top-performing paid media content. The position will focus on developing concepts, testing, and optimizing high-impact and high-output creative across Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Amazon, and emerging platforms. This role will report directly to the VP of Growth and work closely with our in-house Video Editing team, Media Buyers, and other members of our Growth and Marketing teams to develop and iterate content that drives omni-channel growth across Shopify, Amazon, and retail. They will play a key role in MaryRuth’s performance creative work and strategy- analyzing what works, generating new and effective hooks and briefs, and scaling creative output that converts. This role is a full-time, salaried, exempt, remote position with a compensation range of $85,000 to $100,000 USD/year.
Responsibilities
Creative Strategy & Ideation
Lead creative strategy for all performance marketing assets across paid advertising channels, including Meta, TikTok, Google, Snapchat, etc.
Write clear, compelling briefs for internal content creators that are strongly rooted in performance data and audience insight.
Develop testing hypotheses, creative concepts, hooks, angles, and storyboards that drive CTR, thumbstop rate, and ROAS.
Partner with VP of Growth to align content strategy with ad channel goals and upcoming campaign plans around product launches, promotions, and more.
Analyze ads and creative performance using tools like Motion and Northbeam to fuel iterative improvements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with the in-house Video Editing team, working to ensure briefs are executed on time and to standard.
Work closely with department coordinators to manage UGC pipelines, track creator submissions, and brief external creators.
Partner with additional Marketing and Growth teams to maintain alignment and repurpose content where relevant.
Creative Sprint & Output Planning
Lead the Creative Sprint process with team to plan 2-week Creative Sprints, including planning for the number of creatives needed, the product focus, and creative strategy notes for new iterations.
Review and give performance-focused feedback on draft edits and first cuts in Frame.
Maintain a log of creative learnings, tests, and results to continuously optimize content direction.
Recap Sprint performance and deliverables; collaborate to analyze learnings and find areas of improvement.
Trend Awareness & Innovation
Stay ahead of platform trends, ad formats, and emerging creative strategies.
Proactively test new hooks, formats, and creator styles to discover new scalable winners.
Identify opportunity gaps in the current creative output and recommend solutions.
Miscellaneous
Some travel (<10%) may be required, with advance notice provided to the employee.
Additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
Minimum 4-6 years of demonstrated professional experience in creative strategy, paid social, or growth-focused content roles is required, ideally at a fast-growing DTC/CPG brand or performance marketing agency.
Proven experience developing high-performing ads for Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and similar channels.
Strong understanding of creative testing frameworks, high frequency iterative ad production, and paid media strategy.
Exceptional idea development, brief-writing, and copy ideation skills.
Advanced knowledge of platform-specific best practices and ad creative trends.
Strong analytical skills and experience with creative analytics tools like Motion, Northbeam, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with Frame or other creative platforms ideal.
Collaborative, self-directed, and comfortable working cross-functionally across Growth and Marketing teams.
Experience working with/briefing UGC creators strongly preferred.
A minimum of a basic familiarity with video editing tools or workflows (no editing experience required) is strongly preferred.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Interest in health and wellness or VMS supplement industry experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
This role involves sitting most of the time but may also involve moving for brief periods of time.
